‘Star Trek’ Movie Pushed Back to May 2009

Star Trek, which was suppose to open late this year has been pushed back from December 25th, 2008 to May 8th, 2009. Reason being is that Paramount/Dreamworks has a major reshuffling in their studio calendar that they have to take care off. They believe that Star Treks new release date will gross more when its release in May rather than being release in the winter. Even though Star Trek had already began filming, the director now has more time to re-shoot and re-write any scenes, which is an advantage for ‘Star Trek’.

Since the writers Strike is now over, other movies, like Ben Stiller’s summer comedy ‘Tropic Thunder’ which was suppose to release summer July 11 is now being push back to August 15. Star Trek’s also has no competition for their new release date except for ‘X-men origins: Wolverine’ which opens a week before Star Trek.
