As you all know, Hollywood has run out of ideas on how to give the audience chills. In this case the remake of the 2004 horror Thai film, Shutter. Shutter is once again another disappointing Hollywood attempt to redo a J-horror film. Shutter demonstrates that the subject of spirit photography, which has been a point of speculation for more than a century, might have passed its peak. After reading the plot of this film viewing the film would just seem a bit retro, We have seen or heard of films such as Shutter involving ghosts and technology, emerging via cell phones, video tapes and computers, it’s not working, well, at least here in Hollywood it isn’t.

In the North American box office, the 20th Century Fox film opened at No. 3 with poor sales of $10.7 million..

It has been over 60 years since the Wolfman attack the box office, but will come back next year in a remake by Joe Johnston. Entertainment Weekly caught up with six time makeup artist Oscar winner Rick Baker for an exclusive first look at Del Toro’s ‘Wolfman’. Baker told Entertainment Weekly, that he wanted to show respect to Lon Chaney by making his version of the Wolfman to look much like his and have a classic original look to it. This is what Baker told EW about his version of the ‘Wolfman’:

“What’s interesting about those two pictures is that there’s one that he’s kind of facing forward and you see a little more of his body — that’s very much more of a classic Wolfman shot; it looks more like the Chaney version. The close-up one is a more frightening and dynamic version. Even though it’s the same makeup [as the first picture], he can do a lot more than Lon Chaney could do with the makeup. It’s cool that there’s something for the old-school guys, and the other picture is more for the guys who don’t even know what the Wolfman is but can see that picture and still go, ‘Oh, that’s cool!'”

What do you think the Wolfman?

Justin Long Joins Raimi’s ‘Hell’

It has been announced that Justin Long (Mac vs. PC commercials) will join the cast of director Sam Raimi’s ‘Drag Me To Hell’. Long will play the boyfriend of Alison Lohman, who in the film is the unknowing recipient to a supernatural curse. You have to wonder how serious we’ll have to take Justin Long in a horror film, and if he’s a comic relief we’re screwed since he’s not very funny. This movie seems to be losing potential every time something is announced. ‘Drag Me To Hell’ is Raimi’s return to the horror genre, and is said to be similar to the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise. Filming is set to begin March 31st.
