Sam Raimi In Negotiations With Paramount To Direct Tom Clancy Movies

March 19, 2008

Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures is in negotiations with Spider-man director, Sam Raimi to direct a series of movies based on Tom Clancy’s character, Jack Ryan. We have seen Jack Ryan in earlier movies such as The Hunt For Red October, where Alec Baldwin played Jack Ryan, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, where Harrison Ford played Jack Ryan. Ben Affleck also played Jack Ryan, but a younger Jack, in The Sum Of All Fears. I love Espionage films, especially ones that are based on Tom Clancy books. I personally liked Harrison Ford as the CIA analyst the best. Not so sure about Ben Affleck though.

Sam Raimi will direct Drag Me To Hell first which will start filming March 31, 2008. Paramout Pictures is pushing for a 2010 release for the first of the new Jack Ryan films. In the new films, Jack Ryan will be a younger Jack, which I do not think fans of the books will be too happy with. If you’re a Raimi fan or a Jack Ryan fan, this is pretty interesting news. We would love to hear what you think about this story! We’ll keep you posted!

It has been announced by Maria Bello star of ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ that Universal Pictures is already planning two more sequels to the film. Here’s what Bello had to say: “I don’t know when, but it’s going, [There will] absolutely be The Mummy 4.” She also said that she is already signed for a whole new trilogy, if Universal decides to go ahead with the project. The continuation of the franchise will probably be determined by the box office results of the upcoming sequel which opens in August, so we’ll wait and see.

On May 13th Paramount Home Entertainment will be releasing a special edition version of the ‘Indiana Jones’ trilogy. The dvd’s release is a week before the fourth installment, which swings into theaters May 22nd. The studio has released a trilogy box set a few years ago, but the upcoming set will have many more features. No word yet on if there will be a Blu-Ray version or not. Everyone figured there would be some layoffs due to the Warner Bros merge with New Line Cinema but no one expected how huge it was going to be. Variety announced that 75% of the 600 staffers at New Line will get the shaft in the next couple of months. This is outrageous! How can they put so many people out of work. These companies make millions of dollars a day and can’t afford to pay these hard working people. PLEEEAAASE! We’ll keep you updated on the situation which will hopefully change for the better.

Rosemary’s Baby Remake on the Way

March 3, 2008

rose-marys-baby.jpg

ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned that Platinum Dunes and Paramount are in talks to remake the 1968’s ‘Rosemary’s Baby’. The original picture is about a young couple living in a Manhattan apartment. Rosemary then becomes pregnant and becomes sick and suspicious of witchcraft concerning her pregnacy. Obviously no director has been chosen for the film since production has yet to begin. Remakes are coming to often, why can’t we leave a movie on it’s own, does every movie need to be remade??? No release date for this film has been announced.
