A Classic from The Twilight Zone to Come Back

 

    Summit Entertainment has put the sci-fi thriller Countdown into production. Countdown is based on a classic episode of The Twilight Zone titled Death Trip, by Richard Matheson.

    Michael Brandt was chosen to direct Countdown, Countdown being his directorial debut. According to Summit production chief Erik Feig, Michael Brandt was the choice to go with because he outfits larger interest in supporting new talent. Brandt is in the processes of rewriting the screenplay along with Derek Hass, whom both were involved in the films 3:10 to Yuma and 2 Fast 2 Furious, and they also wrote the screenplay to the upcoming adaption Wanted from Universal.

    Death Trip revolves around a group of astronauts who land on a planet only to find a crashed spaceship and corpses that frighteningly resemble their own. They then must piece together where they are and whether they might in fact already be dead.

New Pictures of Johnny Depp as Dillinger

Another J-Horror Film Gone Bad

    As you all know, Hollywood has run out of ideas on how to give the audience chills. In this case the remake of the 2004 horror Thai film, Shutter. Shutter is once again another disappointing Hollywood attempt to redo a J-horror film. Shutter demonstrates that the subject of spirit photography, which has been a point of speculation for more than a century, might have passed its peak. After reading the plot of this film viewing the film would just seem a bit retro, We have seen or heard of films such as Shutter involving ghosts and technology, emerging via cell phones, video tapes and computers, it’s not working, well, at least here in Hollywood it isn’t.

In the North American box office, the 20th Century Fox film opened at No. 3 with poor sales of $10.7 million..

Bond’s Promise

    Actor Daniel Craig, who is in charge of playing the iconic super-spy, James Bond, promises fans that the latest installment on the 007 films will be impressive. How can Daniel Craig assure such promise? Well, Daniel claims that the injuries he has suffered during the filming of Quantum of Solace acts of perfect proof that the film is worth the wait and worth watching.

“I can only gauge it by how much pain I’m in, and I think we’re doing pretty good.” -Craig reveals.

Despite the questionable title that gives Bond fans the “eye brow-lift,” Daniel has this to say:

“I’m very happy with it,” he said. “It encapsulates what the movie is at heart and a lot more which I can’t give away.”

Clint Eastwood to Direct 2 Films This Year

    Oscar Award winning director Clint Eastwood is back this year with not only one but two movies he will direct. The two movies are The Changeling, and Gran Torino. The Changeling is a drama starring Angelina Jolie due to come out November of this year which will be followed by the release of Gran Torino, set for December. Not only will Clint Eastwood direct Gran Torino, he will star in the movie as well. This will mark his first role in a film since his Oscar nominated boxing movie, Million Dollar Baby. Even though we do not know much about the films yet, we should probably be expecting Clint Eastwood to be nominated for many awards again for 2008. We will see.
